Improve your keywords
There are a few ways to improve your keyword research and list building. In general you want...
More keywords
Better targeted keywords
More "negative" keywords.
Here are some tools to help with keyword research:
KeyWord Magnet - A very nice program by a god friend of mine, Scott Foster. It's probably the cheapest software of its type on the market. You can use it to instantly build huge lisys of keywords.
Misspelled Keyword Generator - Using mis-spelled keywords is one of the best ways to get cheap clicks on PPC advertising programs like AdWords. This program can take a single keyword and turn it into hundreds of potential keywords, many of which will be overlooked by other marketers!
ClickAd Equalizer - This product will make your life a lot easier by finding the most profitable products and keywords for you.
Good Keywords - A good free alternative. Not as many features, but it works in a pinch if you can't afford to get another program.
Google also has a built-in keyword suggestion tool, which you can find in your AdWords account. However we would suggest using a software tool first to maximize your keywords, and then use Google's tool for further suggestions.
HOT TIPS:
Use your keyword software to generate a massive list of potential keywords. Do this by inputting several of the most common search phrases for your topic. If your keyword is broad enough, the software should return 100 matches each time. Do this several times to get a list of at least 400-500 keywords (if the topic is a small niche, it can be less).
Export the keyword list into a spreadsheet like MS Excel.
Sort the keywords alphabetically and remove any duplicates. Next go through the entire list and find all of the keywords that are NOT related to your topic. Often you will find that almost every topic is involved by people searching for disgusting things (like porn and stuff). You want to make sure you aren't attracting those people with your keywords!
Take all those "bad" keywords, and remove them from the list, and use them to create a "negative keyword" list. Often you can think of additional negative keywords by looking at the ones you've found. Add any additional negative keywords you can think of.
Now go back to your "master list" in Excel. Go through the entire list and clump the keywords together into small groups of related keywords. The smaller and more specific the groupings, the better. For example, if you have a list of 300 keywords, try to form at least 20 or more sub-groups from that list.
Once you've created your groups, those will become the basis of your Ad Groups in AdWords. Use each of those small groups of keywords to form an Ad Group centered on the main keyword from that group. Put that keyword in the headline of the ad and repeat it again in the ad text.
As you're adding the keywords to each Ad Group, make sure you've considered every permutation of every keyword. For example, if the keyword is a singular object, make sure you add its plural form, and vice versa. For many keywords, that's as easy as copying them a second time and adding an "s" to the end of each. Add misspellings too.
Take your negative keywords list, and add them as Campaign Negative Keywords. Most people don't realize that negative keywords are every bit as important as the keywords themselves. Unfortunately, not all the PPC sources use negative keywords, but make sure you use them in Google.
One more hot tip. You can use the URL's of your competitors as keywords. Use the full URL, with and without the "http://", and just the domain by itself.
We hope you realize that these keyword tips alone are worth far more than what you paid to join this program!

Improve your tracking
As you learned in Part 6 (Tracking), tracking is absolutely essential to your success with this program. Those who don't track their results will rarely make a substantial profit, and those who do properly track their results are almost guaranteed to make more money.
You can actually be very successful with only a minimal amount of tracking. If you track the expenses and revenues of each campaign and review them on at least a monthly basis, you'll be able to adjust your campaigns as needed to keep them profitable.
However, just think about what you could do if you were able to track EACH keyword! You would know the precise ROI of each keyword, and you would be able to ascertain the exact optimal bid-per-click to maximize your profits on every single keyword.
If you're selling your own product, it's easy to track your results per keyword. Simply copy Google's tracking code (you can find it in your AdWords account, and most other PPC accounts), and paste it into the HTML at the bottom of your product's "thankyou" page.
However, it's not quite as easy for affiliates. But that's OK, because the small percentage of affiliates with this knowledge will have a tremendous advantage over their competitors!
There are methods of tracking on a per-keyword basis for most affiliate programs. First let's look at ClickBank...
While ClickBank does enable the possibility of passing additional information in the URL along with your hoplink, it's not useful for tracking because their reports don't include that data. Therefore, two programs have been developed for ClickBank affiliates to track their PPC campaigns:
AdWatcher - This is our top recommended tracking program.
AdTrackz - This is our second recommended tracking program.
You can't go wrong with either of those two programs. The only thing that must occur, is the seller of the product you're promoting (your partner) must put the AdWatcher or AdTrackz code on their thankyou page. But there is no reason they wouldn't do it (they'd be dumb not too, since it potentially helps all their affiliates, and can help them get more).
For other affiliate programs...
Most other affiliate program providers (such as Commission Junction or Hydra Media) have some level of built-in tracking functionality. For example, Commission Junction offers the ability to add an additional field to most affiliate links. In your CJ account, go to "Get Links" to get a link for an advertiser like you normally would. You choose the link, and click to "get HTML" like usual. Then just above the HTML area, click on the link that says "Show Advanced Options". You can then enter an "SID", and click a button to update the HTML with your customized SID embedded.
The trick is to use a different SID for each keyword you're using in your PPC campaigns. Then be sure to use that corresponding link with the SID for each keyword. You do not need to go back into CJ to generate each unique link. Just use the same link but change the SID for each keyword. To make things simple, you might wish to make the SID the keyword itself.
Then when you view your transaction reports in CJ, it will show you the link that originated each commission, including the SID. This way, you can see exactly how much commission you are making as a result of each keyword, and compare that to how much you are spending on each keyword in your PPC campaigns.
This will allow you to adjust your bid for each keyword accordingly, and optimize them for a maximum ROI. Hydra Media has essentially the same function. Just below the box where you get an affiliate link for any product, you can enter a "Sub ID". You can use different Sub ID's for each keyword, and then when you run your reports you can see which keywords are producing commissions.
These methods provide a huge opportunity to skyrocket the profitability of any campaign, and yet 99% of affiliates don't do it. Please make no mistake about it--the tracking methods we just described are pure gold for you. The tip about CJ and Hydra alone is worth more than the price you paid for this program. These are THE strategies that top PPC marketers are using to pull in over $100,000.00 per month.

Improve your copywriting
Simply put: copywriting sells. Good copywriting is what will get people to click on your ads. If you're writing reviews of products, then good copywriting will pre-sell the product. And if you're selling your own product, the copywriting will sell it for you.
Unfortunately it's just not possible to teach copywriting in a few paragraphs on this page, so we're not even going to attempt it.
However, we've found some good resources for you to learn from...
Copywriting Seminar In A Box - From Yanik Silver and Dan Kennedy. Dan routinely commands no less than $9,200.00 for the simplest letter or ad to $25,000.00 to $50,000.00 per copywriting project, plus royalties. And he literally has a waiting list of business, with clients standing in line and patiently (or impatiently) waiting for him to fit them in. Dan has been paid as much as $50,000.00 in royalties from one letter. Nearly 70% of all clients hiring him to write copy once, return and continue. Yanik Silver is known as one of the best internet copywriters of all time, and he has charged $3,975.00 for his own copywriting course. Fortunately, you'll be able to get this one for a fraction of that price!
Mind Motivators - An amazing course from Yanik Silver and Alex Mandossian. These guys know what they're talking about, and they'll teach you how to use your words to make people buy from you consistently!
Masters of Copywriting - This is a classic copywriting book that should be owned by anyone who is serious about making money with their writing. We've arranged a special sale for members of The Writing Cash Program to download the entire 393 page book for only $9.95. Download it today!

Improve your website
Being a webmaster is a vast topic, which could occupy a year of teaching, so we're just going to hit a couple of important points and then refer you to some additional resources if you would like to become a better webmaster.
FREE TIPS:
As soon as you've got the hang of creating HTML web pages, you should begin "cloaking" your affiliate links by hiding them in "redirects". There are a couple of reasons to do this. First, it lessens the chances of another affiliate "hijacking" the sale with their own affiliate ID in order to get the commission. Second, it looks less like an advertisement, so more visitors will be likely to click on it.
There are many ways of hiding affiliate links. We're just going to cover one popular method. The following example is for ClickBank. The same method can be used for any affiliate program. You would just use the applicable affiliate link in place of the hoplink.
The secret is to send the customer to a URL of your own that
quietly redirects them through the correct hoplink. In other words, you create a new HTML page, with only the following code on it. Then instead of linking to your hoplink, just link to this new page. We
recommend using the HTML below. Don't forget to replace
each occurrence of AFFILIATE and VENDOR with the correct ClickBank ID.
|
HopLink Cloaker HTML:
<html>
<head>
<title>Loading page...</title>
<meta http-equiv="refresh" content="2;URL=http://AFFILIATE.VENDOR.hop.clickbank.net">
<script>
url='http://AFFILIATE.VENDOR.hop.clickbank.net';
if(document.images) { top.location.replace(url); }
else { top.location.href=url; }
</script>
</head>
<body>Loading
<a href=http://AFFILIATE.VENDOR.hop.clickbank.net>page</a>...
</body>
</html>
|
If your web server runs php you can use this simple script instead:
|
HopLink Cloaker PHP Script:
<?php
header("Location: http://AFFILIATE.VENDOR.hop.clickbank.net");
?>

Build a list
If you delve into the world of internet marketing, you'll find that the experts will tell you "the money is in the list". What do they mean by this? They mean that permission-based email marketing is the bread and butter of most internet millionaires.
It's a simple fact that the majority of people won't buy something the first time they visit a web page. But it's also a known fact that if you continue marketing to those people with several more points of contact, they will often buy. If you can capture each visitor's email address, and send them a series of automated messages, your chances of making a sale to them goes up exponentially (we've heard of 1200% increase).
It also allows you to build a solid long-term business, versus simply redirecting traffic to affiliate links to make quick cash. You see, if you have an opt-in list of targeted customers for a certain niche, you can continue to market to those people over and over again. It's not a one time attempt to sell them a product. You are establishing a relationship with them, so even if something drastic were to happen in the affiliate marketing world (like if ClickBank went out of business), you would still have a source of income because you can sell something NEW to your list at any time.
Aweber - This is THE autoresponder and list building service that most of the professional internet marketers use. It's what we use for our own lists! If you're serious about building your own list, then you need the most reliable name in the business. Analyze your competition
It's important to analyze your competition when it comes to PPC marketing. You should be aware of what kind of ads other PPC marketers are running against yours, how many you are competing with, etc. This will allow you to write the most effective ads, and spend your time promoting products that will allow you the best chance of success.
One way to analyze the competition is to go to Google and search for each of your keywords, and copy down all your competitors' ads, URL's, etc.
Fortunately, Jeff Alderson has created an amazing program which allows you to quickly analyze all of your competition and see get all the information you need to know, with a few clicks of your mouse!
You can do it the hard way without this software, but if you'd rather spend your time making money instead of doing tedious research, then you need to get this program.
