Rate This Contest Entry: Contest: June 30th, 2005 Author: ADAMU DAWDA It has been quoted in the scriptures that “MONEY is the root of all evils” God created man in the Garden of Eden but because man disobeyed God as a result of the influence of the serpent, God drove man out of the Garden of Eden and told man he would have to work hard and sweat before he could get the mean for his life. This word was like a curse to mankind and since then it has continued from generation to generation which had made life uncomfortable top man on earth today. People are walking on the street of Africa day in day out quenching every pit and path looking for the mean for their life. There is nothing free on this earth and one need money in other to survive. By so doing, people have their own way of getting money for their lifes.some people are naturally lazy. That is, they don’t like too much work in their life. There is an adage that, there are many ways to kill a cat. And with this a lot of people tend to take the easiest way to get money regardless of it nature. The young men these days admire the attititude of “get rich quick overnight” that is they try to acquire money through dubious means without considering the adverse effect associated with it. Money, they say is like a bird on a tree, which does not stand only on one tree but changes it stand day in day out, so someone can get money for sometime and losses again with the passage of time. A lot people have lost their families and other precious items because of money. Others have also given up their lives and lives of their children because of money. Money in the physical world is needed in ones life but doesn’t mean it is indispensable to man. Ultra desire for money may however lead man into sinful act, which is not desirable for man. In our society, today most especially in the African society, a lot of people use what we call “Blood money”. They don not work for the money but use magical and occultic powers to acquire money and through this, they several crime as in the case of the sad end of three close friend who used occult because of money. These gentlemen once lived in the city of Lapozio . Their li9fe i9n the city was such that, at their early ages they didn’t have any formal education and so when they grew up, they couldn’t befitted in any industry and so the only option for them to get out from their financial hardship was to engage in armed robbery. They secretly started their operation for some months and they were fortunate because they were not arrested. When they realized they have got some money, they sent some of the money to a notorious money doublers who doubled them for the first and second time but for the third time, the money doubler also made clean heels with their money. The gentlemen were really down again but because they had love for money, they took another step. But this time, they went in for spiritual money. The spiritualist demanded the blood of a pregnant woman but because these gentlemen needed badly, they managed to get some of the blood for the rituals. After some few months, these gentlemen were very rich in their society, each of them built a huge mansion, and bought expensive cars for themselves and their fiacees.at this time, the ladies were chasing them as an adage says, “the spot with the strong carcass is where vultures descend”. Because the scripture says,” anything which is not of God shall never exist for ever”, they all loss their money and properties when they breached the regulations of the gods of the spiritualist at this time all the beautiful ladies went away because when the nector in the flower is sucked, the insect never visit the flower again. Their life this time was like a tattered dirty rag and even the newborn baby in the society does not respect them. To subsidize their condition, they decided to engage in hawking in the market. One day, an old poor man asked them to carry home his hundred ounces of gold and as they were going, they collected the old man’s walking stick, beat him mercilessly and ran away with the ounces of gold. Because they were tired after a long run, they sent the younger among them to go back to the market to buy some food so that they could satisfy themselves and continue their journey back home. As soon as the young boy left for the market, the remaining boys thought of how they could kill the other boy so that the two would share the ounces of gold between themselves. With this, they plotted to hit him with a club and kill him on his return. On the other hand, the other boy who has been sent also thought of how he could eliminate the other two friends so that he could take the hundred ounces of gold alone. So he put a poisonous substance in the food so that when the other boys happen to eat the it, they would die. Now, it was two-way affair in that, both groups were planning how to kill the other so that they get the gold. On his returned from the market, the other boys hit him with large clubs and killed him instantly. After that, they jubilated for sometime and decided to eat the food with no absurd mind on what is in the food. Because they were hungry, they did not delay on the food and went far, licking the bowl as if it had been washed and dried. They then decided to take a few minutes rest before they share the money but in no time the poison reacted and they died at the spot leaving the gold to be used by no man. Oh poor greedy boys, why should you allow your soul to be controlled by this greedy desire for money? Because of you have all die at this tender age? So they say! Money is indeed the root of committing evils.
