Rate This Contest Entry: Contest: June 30th, 2005 Author: Cindi Vernon As I walk down the beach alone, I see in the distant a man skipping stones across the water. I think to myself how handsome he is and if I should walk over and introduce myself. Finally without hesitation I feel drawn to him. Slowly I walk over to him as I get closer he seems familiar to me, as if he is someone I knew from my past. He's a seemly tall man with dark hair which curls around his face, his eyes sparkle like the diamonds in a mine yet undiscovered, his smile seems so warm and can light up the darkest room. Being in hearing distance I hear him say a warm and welcoming hello, I glance up into his eyes and smile and say hello back to him. He walks closer to me and when he's just about in arm's reach it suddenly appears to me that I do know him. Yet I can't remember from where. He's dressed in all white with a brown leather jacket to keep him warm from the night's chill. A fire behind him he made of the wood from the trees near by, he asked me to join him for a cup of hot coffee from the roaring fire. I accept his offer. As we sit there for a moment in silence which seems like an eternity he then says my name. Susan, from his lips it sounds so crisp and clear, and as lovely as I ever heard anyone say my name, I then ask him how he knows my name, he laughs a little laugh and says to me Susan I have know you all your life I just was wanting on you to come to me. I then tell him how I felt drawn to him from a distance and how I felt safe approaching him. He leans in towards me takes my hand and say Susan that is because you know I would never harm you ever. I will always keep you safe. His hand holding mine is soft and he has the most gentle touch ever felt. As I sip from the cup of coffee he gave me he gets up and excuses his self for a moment telling me he will be back soon, I feel ackward sitting alone at this campfire he built as he walks away. I wonder should I stay or should I go. Just as I was about to get up and leave he comes back. He hands me a box and tells me this is a gift for me from him and to please open it once I get home. I promise to do so. He gently puts his arms around me and hugs me, and wishes me a safe journey home. Once upon entering my apartment I open the box to find a note in there the note reads' Susan thanks for your time on the beach tonight.
